Wallabies wingers Drew Mitchell and Lachie Turner have returned from injury to be named in Australia's train-on squad ahead of next month's Rugby Championship.

Coach Robbie Deans announced a 27-man squad on Monday, which includes 13 Waratahs but no Queensland Reds players, who will be involved in the Super Rugby finals series. Deans recalled Mitchell and Turner after the pair were sidelined for much of the season, and missed the Wallabies' June Tests against Scotland and Wales.

"The camps provide us with an important opportunity for training background," Deans said. "It gives us the chance to bring the whole group together and familiarise them with the method: 'tune' them in to Wallaby content if you like."

Uncapped players in the train-on squad include winger Nick Cummins, centre Mitch Inman and prop Paddy Ryan. While Veteran lock Nathan Sharpe, who has put retirement plans aside to play in the Rugby Championship, will be rested from the three-day camp in Sydney from July 24.

Injured Wallabies captain James Horwill was not considered for the squad, with No.8 Wycliff Palu and utility backs James O'Connor and Christian Lealiifano also unable to participate in squad training due to injury.
