Veteran Australia second-row Nathan Sharpe capped his season by winning the John Eales medal for the Wallabies Players' Player of the Year for the second time in his career.
Sharpe postponed his retirement this year so he could play in the inaugural Rugby Championship and was given the captaincy duties for four tests after injuries to James Horwill, Will Genia and David Pocock. He also took his number of Test caps to 112 having reached a century against Wales in the World Cup's bronze medal match last year.
The 34-year-old Sharpe will now skipper Australia on their upcoming tour of the northern hemisphere. The Wallabies begin against France at the Stade de France in Paris on November 10, and then follow up with Tests against England at Twickenham on November 17, Italy in Florence on November 24 and Wales in Cardiff on December 1.
