The countdown to season two of Australia's National Rugby Championship (NRC) is gathering momentum with the Australian Rugby Union revealing the allocation of Wallabies across the nine clubs.

While the majority of players are unlikely to be involved because of the looming Rugby World Cup, the tournament could provide a player like injured lock Sam Carter the opportunity to prove his fitness.

The tournament gets underway on Thursday August 20 with Brisbane City hosting Perth Spirit in a repeat of last year's inaugural grand final.
