Lock Bryn Evans made his Super 14 debut for the Blues in 2008 and later helped Hawke's Bay to the semi-finals of the Air New Zealand Cup. In 2009 he made his bow for the Hurricanes, playing his part as they made the Super 14 semi-finals.
After testing himself in Super Rugby, Evans was rewarded with his international debut by All Blacks coach Graham Henry. He made two replacement appearances in Tests against France in Dunedin and Wellington before being retained in the squad for the 2009 Tri-Nations.
