Digby Ioane has been ruled out of Australia's test against Scotland with a shoulder injury, bringing Ryan Cross into the starting XV at outside centre.

The late setback forces coach Robbie Deans into just his second change ahead of the game, along with his now regular rotation of flankers George Smith and David Pocock. Lachie Turner comes onto the bench.

Ioane, who had impressed as part of a dynamic new centres combination with Quade Cooper, had a lengthy lay-off after surgery on his left shoulder, but this time it's his right that is the problem.

Saturday's test will give Cross his 18th cap for the Wallabies, after winning his 16th and 17th on the current tour against New Zealand and England respectively.
