Wallabies hooker Saia Faingaa has been banned for two weeks after being found guilty of a dangerous tackle in his side's thrilling 41-39 Tri-Nations victory over South Africa in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The Reds youngster, who won his ninth cap at Free State Stadium, will miss next weekend's final Tri-Nations game against the All Blacks in Sydney after pleading guilty to the charge, which related to a 70th minute tip tackle on Springbok replacement Flip van der Merwe.

He was shown a yellow card by English official Wayne Barnes, only five minutes after his introduction as a replacement for Stephen Moore, but his team-mates were able to secure victory in the dying seconds thanks to Kurtley Beale's 55-metre penalty.

Faingaa's ban leaves Moore as the only hooker in the Wallabies' squad, although Brumbies No.2 Huia Edmonds won debut caps in June against Fiji and England.
