A raft of Australian stars have come together to support the Wallabies World Cup campaign in a new series of TV commercials.

The commercials are a call for all Australians to unite behind the Wallabies as they head to New Zealand in a bid to win their first World Cup since 1999. The ARU venture includes sports stars such as footballer Mark Schwarzer, two-time World Surfing Champion Mick Fanning, cricketer Shane Watson and Olympian's Grant Hackett, Matthew Mitcham and Geoff Huegill.

Also featuring are Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister John Howard and numerous television personalities. John O'Neill, the ARU's Managing Director and CEO, said the three television commercials were a great call to arms for all Australians.

"This is a huge year for the Qantas Wallabies and that fact is reflected in the calibre of sporting and non-sporting stars who have volunteered their time to urge Australians from all walks of life to get behind the team as they embark on the journey of a challenging 2011 international season," O'Neill said.

"These ads, which mix celebratory advocacy with inspiring vision of the Wallabies in action are aimed to appeal to all Australians. Whether you're a passionate rugby fan, follow other codes or take just a passing interest in sport, these commercials and the celebratory advocates are telling you that in 2011 there is a fantastic opportunity to stand together as One Team as the Qantas Wallabies take on the world."

The ARU have received a boost after they announced Castrol as the naming rights partner to domestic Tests for the next four years in a deal described by O'Neill, as a "teaming of two organisations steeped in tradition and driven by high performance."

The multi-million dollar agreement will see the Wallabies opening match of the season against Samoa in Sydney on 17 July positioned as The Castrol Edge Rugby Test while the Castrol Edge Tri-Nations features clashes with South Africa in Sydney on 23 July and the All Blacks in Brisbane on 27 August.
