Australia captain James Horwill has been given the all clear to continue in the Rugby World Cup following a scan on his troublesome shoulder.

The lock had a precautionary scan on his shoulder following Australia's 15-6 defeat to Ireland in Auckland on Saturday. But the scan revealed no serious damage and Horwill will be available for selection for Australia's clash with the United States on Friday.

Meanwhile centre Anthony Faingaa will rejoin the Wallabies squad in Wellington on Monday after staying behind in Auckland to recover from illness.
