Australia coach Robbie Deans has confirmed that Kurtley Beale is in line for a Test recall against Wales next weekend. The Melbourne Rebels playmaker was charged with common assault on Saturday following an alleged altercation in Brisbane, but Deans is keen to see him back in a gold jersey should he prove his fitness this week. Beale has been struggling with a shoulder injury and missed the Wallabies' two victories over Wales in recent weeks, although he could be tailor-made for a return at fullback in Sydney on Saturday. Cooper Vuna, his team-mate at the Rebels, faces a disciplinary hearing after being cited for a dangerous tackle on Leigh Halfpenny and should the former league star be banned there will be a vacancy in the back-three. Adam Ashley-Cooper would likely shift to the wing, with a fit Beale taking over the No.15 jersey. "He started some contact work at the end of last week and that will be escalated early this week, and if he gets through that graduation, he'll be good to go," Deans told AFP. "Kurtley's a class player so if he's fit and ready to go, clearly he'll have a jersey on. We'll just have to make the decision whether it's a starting role or off the bench." Beale is available to play at domestic and international level as the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) suspended an internal investigation into his behaviour while the formal charges against him were dealt with. © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
