The Argentina Rugby Union (UAR) has confirmed that Sir Graham Henry will continue to assist the Pumas' backroom staff throughout the 2013 Rugby Championship. The Pumas drew widespread admiration for their valiant debut season in the expanded Tri-Nations last year. While they failed to register a win, they drew with South Africa in Mendoza and ran Australia close on two occasions. And they have opted to stick with the tried and tested ahead of the 2013 competition with World Cup-winning coach Henry retained in his consultant capacity. "Having been a very competitive team in the 2013 Rugby Championship, this new edition of the tournament will be an even greater challenge for Argentina," Henry said. "The Springboks, All Blacks and Wallabies will surely be stronger teams than last year but without doubt it will be a positive challenge, you only improve facing the best." While Henry has committed to the Pumas, doubts still surround Santiago Phelan's future as their coach. He has held the position since 2007 but could stand down after the championship due to family reasons. But the UAR's president Luis Castillo is hopeful that Phelan decides to stay on. "Tati [Phelan] has the doors open to continue but whether he does or not is a personal issue," Castillo said. "My opinion and that of the directors is that Tati and his staff should stay on." © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
