Pat McCabe, Digby Ioane and Berrick Barnes will miss the 2nd Test against the British & Irish Lions in Melbourne on Saturday after failing to recover from injuries sustained in the brutal series opener in Brisbane.

Outside centre Adam Ashley-Cooper remains in doubt after dislocating his right shoulder in Brisbane.

McCabe is struggling to recover from a neck injury and will see specialists in Sydney before deciding the way forward after suffering a similar injury on the spring tour in 2012. Winger Ioane, who has been issued with an arrest warrant after he failed to appear in a Melbourne court on Monday, may need surgery on his injured shoulder. Berrick Barnes will miss the match due to concussion.

McCabe and Barnes were among the three Wallabies players taken off the field by stretcher during their 23-21 defeat in the first Test, and Wallabies officials said on Monday that they didn't yet know the extent the centre's injury. "We may know more about the significance ... whether he's just irritated [a previous neck injury] or there's something new there," a team spokesman said.

Inside centre Christian Lealiifano should be available for the second Test despite being knocked out in the opening minute in Brisbane. "They're expecting Christian will be fine and they're hopeful with Digby [Ioane] and Adam [Ashley-Cooper] that with a bit of rehab, they can be back," the spokesman said. "[Lealiifano] passed the concussion test on the night, so he was actually keen to come back on, but the time had expired."
