Wingers Israel Folau and James O'Connor have been handed a licence to thrill as the Wallabies look to maximise their potent back three in the Rugby Championship-opening Bledisloe Cup Test against the All Blacks at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Saturday.

O'Connor is back on the wing after a tough series at five-eighth against the British & Irish Lions, knowing he was a standout for Australia on the flank at Rugby World Cup 2011. Folau, meanwhile, was devastating at times on the wing against the Lions, most notably in his dazzling two-try Test debut in Brisbane, but the Wallabies accept they under-used the dual international in that series defeat.

Wallabies skipper James Horwill and vice-captain Will Genia said on Friday that Folau had to be involved more in the Rugby Championship opener against the All Blacks.

"He's a guy you want to get the ball because he makes things happen," Horwill said. "He's got free rein to make sure he gets the ball as much as he wants. He understands that and he's a guy who makes defences worry ... so we want to make sure Izzy gets as much ball as he wants."

Genia, meanwhile, said that O'Coonor could shine back on the end of the backline. "I think James' best position is definitely wing," Genia said. "There's definitely less pressure in that you don't have to worry about controlling and organising a team. It gives him a licence to roam the field and slip in at first receiver and get a few touches there. But he's just got a great running game and obviously everybody has seen what Izzy can do."

Genia said also that Jesse Mogg had surprised the non-Brumbies in the squad with his brilliant attacking prowess at training

"We didn't get to see much of his ability to run the ball and attack and to just to see him in training he's incredibly quick," Genia said. "He's got great pace and he just adds a different dimension to our attack, especially with a left boot as well. So if we can create space and momentum those guys can definitely find space and plenty of opportunities for the team."
