Tevita Kuridrani produced the best performance of his brief Test career to date in the final Bledisloe Cup match on Saturday, and Brumbies assistant coach Stephen Larkham believes the centre is beginning to cement his place in the Wallabies team.

Kuridrani received similar praise earlier this year from Rugby World Cup-winning coach Bob Dwyer, who said he could be "better than Jason Little ... he could be our best centre since Jason Little, and that includes Stirling Mortlock and Daniel Herbert".

After a slow start to his Test career, Kuridrani demonstrated his strength on Saturday night, charging across from close range to score his first Wallabies try in their eight-point loss to the All Blacks in Dunedin. An intercept later in the game also led to Toomua scoring his first try for Australia. There were still a few fumbles in his game, but he began to show how devastating he can be as a ball carrier.

After the strong performance, Larkham believes the Wallabies No. 13 jersey is there for the taking and Kuridrani has the skills to cement the spot.

"Tevita in attack was outstanding, he just dropped that one ball, really looked comfortable out there and came up against one of the better players in the New Zealand side in Ben Smith and I thought he outplayed him,'' Larkham told Rugby Heaven. ''There's potential there isn't there. Is anyone else really putting their hand up?

"'I'd like to see Andrew Smith, who's a good competitor for that No.13 jersey, but I guess Tevita has really put his hand up this year. And from the other provinces you don't see any 13s putting their hand up at that next level.''

Toomua also received praise for his contribution on Saturday night, after he filled in the inside centre jersey for injured Brumbies No. 12 Christian Lealiifano. Larkham stated that Toomua's kicking game was especially good and he was "very composed".
