After playing an instrumental role in securing the inaugural National Rugby Championship (NRC) for Brisbane City, Nick Frisby has switched his attention back to the 2015 Super Rugby season as he looks to continue his personal development.

Frisby, who plays at scrum-half for Queensland Reds, as back-up to Wallabies half-back Will Genia, is hoping his strong showing in the NRC will allow for some increased Super Rugby opportunity.

"Now that the NRC has finished the focus turns to the Reds," Frisby told ESPN. "For me, personally, I have my sights set on having a solid 2015 season and playing as much for the Reds as possible. Hopefully I can play a bit more and build on last year and my NRC form."

The NRC was introduced to increase the depth of Australian rugby, and Frisby echoed the positive sentiments expressed throughout its inaugural season - especially after Melbourne Rising and Rebels flanker Sean McMahon, another youngster who impressed during the tournament, was rewarded with a Wallabies debut against Wales.

"The competition was fantastic," Frisby said. "It's great for player development and it's great to continue playing each week. I think it will also have a positive impact on the Wallabies. The longer this competition stays the better it will be for Australian rugby."

From a personal perspective, Frisby also commended the NRC for assisting in his own player development. "It's been a great opportunity for me to play a lot of minutes each week. It helps you improve; in fact the only way to improve is by playing regularly and that's exactly what I've been able to do."

Queensland will open their 2015 Super Rugby campaign against the Brumbies in Canberra on February 13, and Frisby said that match, and securing his position in an impressive Reds squad, was his sole focus.

"What me," he said when asked about higher honours down the track.

"No, not at all. I think there are a lot of guys in line [to make their Wallabies debut] before me. I'm just trying to cement my place in the Reds and we'll see how we go from there."
