Tevita Kuridrani is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after scans revealed he damaged the AC Joint in his shoulder in the Brumbies' 28-13 loss to the Waratahs on Sunday.

Kuridrani left the field with 14 minutes to play at Allianz Stadium with scans later showing the extent of the damage. The Wallabies outside-centre is likely to avoid surgery however, with his rehabilitation expected to take up to two months.

"Depending on how he gets through, he's likely to be out for two months," Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham told Fairfax Media. "We've got a number of options there. There's Dargaville, Henry has played a bit of No.13, Nigel Ah Wong is coming off injury, Jesse Mogg is back and Lausii Taliauli as well as Rod Iona."

Kuridrani's injury will likely convince Waratahs coach Michael Cheika to persist with his recent experiment of playing Israel Folau at No.13. The Wallabies custodian has been popping up in midfield for the Waratahs quite a bit in attack, and enjoyed his best outing of the season in Sydney on Sunday.

"I'm really enjoying being a lot closer to the action and yesterday's team performance was great and it's just good to be on the back-end of that, getting a bit of space out wide," Folau said on Monday. "It's always nice to cross the line for a try but, for me, I was more satisfied by the work by the team and providing opportunities was something I was happy about."

While hoping Kuridrani's injury was not too serious, Folau said he would embrace the challenge if asked to play a similar role for the Wallabies later this year.

"It probably goes back to what's best for the team and, if given that opportunity, I'd try to make the most of it," he said. "It's just unfortunate for Tevita. Hopefully his injury is not too bad. I'm not sure where Adam's at at the moment but as a team we're hopeful that he'll be back in the (Waratahs) side as soon as possible."
