Paddy Ryan has re-signed with New South Wales Waratahs for 2016, his sixth season with the Super Rugby franchise. He joined the Waratahs in 2011 and made his debut that year against the Chiefs.

Ryan, who hails from Tamworth in the state's north-west, and played junior rugby with Tamworth Pirates and St Joseph's College in Sydney, said "I'm a proud New South Welshman and there are more exciting times ahead for us here".

Daryl Gibson, who will succeed Michael Cheika as Waratahs coach for the 2016 season said Ryan, a three-cap Wallabies prop, was an important part of the squad.

"This is a great opportunity for Paddy to step up and establish himself as the senior tight head prop in the team, and re-signing to the Waratahs demonstrates his commitment to the team's values and culture." Gibson said. "With a number of senior leaders in the squad moving on, Paddy's experience will be very important for the broader squad to draw upon."
