First use of video in S12 is inconclusive
February 25, 2000
The first use of video assistance in Super 12 to aid referees was seen in the clash between the Brumbies and the Blues today, but proved inconclusive.
The technology was called into play when there was a dispute over whether the Brumbies had driven a maul over the Blues' line to touch down for a try. However, after video consultation no clear judgement could be made.
It was used again, later in the game to rule over a possible Blues' try, and that time their effort was disallowed.
