Brumbies coach backs a fit Robinson
May 22, 2000

Brumbies coach Eddie Jones has dismissed claims that a fit Brett Robinson would not make the run-on side for Saturday's Super 12 final against the Canterbury Crusaders in Canberra.

There were some suggestions the Brumbies skipper would struggle to win back his place in side such is the superb play of replacement flanker George Smith.

Robinson has been unable to play in the past three weeks due to a chest injury allowing for Smith to step up and show some outstanding form for the Brumbies, particularly in last Saturday's semi-final victory against the Cats.

Smith certainly doesn't deserve to be left out, but Jones can certainly take heart in the fact he has such a dynamic player coming off the bench, particularly if Robinson struggles with his injury during the game.

Robinson, himself, doesn't deserve to miss the final, which is likely to be his last for the Brumbies. Robinson is a foundation player for the Brumbies and has led the side superbly throughout the Super 12.
