Wallaby stocks receive a boost

Wallaby stocks have received a boost with winger Ben Tune and flanker David Wilson hopeful of returning to the field within the next few weeks.

Both players are desperate to keep their Wallaby jerseys and must play in some part of the Ricoh Cup, starting against New South Wales, in Sydney, on June 3.

Tune, in particular, is poised for an earlier-than-expected comeback when he turns out for club side GPS in the Brisbane competition on Saturday. The Wallaby flyer has not played since damaging ankle ligaments against the Chiefs at Ballymore on March 25. The club is equally excited about the return of 36-Test veteran as it is his first appearance for GPS since their grand final victory in 1996.

Wilson is hopeful of returning to the field shortly, but is unlikely to have recovered from his fractured sternum in time for the first game against the Waratahs on June 3. The Reds meet the Brumbies at Ballymore on June 6.

Wilson has returned to light weights and has maintained fitness through extended work on the bike and the stepper.
