Canberra revels in Brumby mania
May 31, 2001

ACT chief minister Gary Humphries has described the Brumbies' Super 12 victory as the region's greatest ever sporting memory.

Humphries was among 3000 people paying tribute to the Brumbies at the civic reception following their 36-6 victory against the Sharks from Natal.

His compliment is high praise indeed, as the region also boasts multi National Rugby League premiership winners the Canberra Raiders.

"You're the best of the best," Humphries said. "You've dazzled us you've made us proud to be Canberrans."

The Brumbies will hold a team presentation at Parliament House tonight (Thursday) and will also have a street named after them.
