Wallabies hope for Larkham miracle
July 11, 2001

Australia coach Rod Macqueen is holding out for a miracle to ensure fly-half Stephen Larkham is fit for the deciding clash with the Lions on Saturday.

Larkham had experienced only slight improvement today on the nerve damage which has rendered his right arm virtually useless. He trained lightly but was not involved in any contact work today and his chances of playing are shrinking by the day.

"The medical staff tell us because it's nerve and not muscular it could just recover overnight, so I'm hoping for a miracle," Macqueen told AAP. "At this stage it's not looking good. We're just holding out because we really don't know."

Macqueen will include Larkham when he names his side tomorrow but will bracket him with Elton Flatley and probably include reserve utility back Graeme Bond in an extended squad.
