Bob backs Butch for biggie
August 14, 2001

Springbok captain Bob Skinstad has backed flyhalf Butch James to lift his game and unleash the backline's attacking potential that his been dormant for most of the international season.

In their two Vodacom Tri-Nations games thus far, the Bok forwards have been a class above their Antipodean counterparts, with the return Cobus Visagie the key factor. However, the backline has rarely threatened the opposition tryline, something Skinstad hopes will change on Saturday.

If there's something we're going to improve it's going to be unlocking the defence and scoring a few tries," the captain said. "I was chuffed with the forwards in both games. At the same time we've held the backs in harness a bit.

"Butch has been showing a lot of promise and is a wonderful player. We're looking to a big game from him. He showed in the Super 12 that he can play against these guys," Skinstad added.
