Eales slams Skinstad

Wallaby skipper John Eales has slammed his Springbok counterpart Bob Skinstad for deliberately committing professional fouls during Saturday's drawn Tri-Nation clash in Perth.
"There was a lot of niggle going on at the breakdown, a lot of professional fouls which was disappointing," Eales said. "Probably the sin bin should have come earlier, it was the same people "When you have the captain of the team infringing like that there's no doubt what the intentions of the team are out there on the field." Australian coach Eddie Jones agreed, saying the referee had failed to enforce the rules of the game from the outset. "There's got to be some discipline action against the defensive side, if they keep infringing at the breakdown there's a set of laws in place that are meant to deal with consistent infringements," he said. "They are supposed to start from the first minute of the game, not the latter part of the game." The result puts the Wallabies one point ahead on the Tri-Nations table and needing a victory in Eales' final game against New Zealand at Stadium Australia on September 1 to retain the trophy. South Africa take on New Zealand next Saturday. |
