Fleck given every chance
August 22, 2001

Springbok vice-captain Robbie Fleck will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness for Saturday's Tri-Nations clash against the All Blacks in Auckland.

Fleck, who damaged ankle ligament in the 14-all draw with the Wallabies in Perth, has been bracketed at outside-centre with Andre Snyman.

The team is otherwise unchanged from the Perth draw.

If Fleck is ruled out, Snyman will return to test rugby after a two-year absence. He suffered a broken ankle in a Tri-Nations clash against the All Blacks in 1999.

Snyman gets the nod ahead of regular mid-field back-up Deon Kayser, with Springbok management preferring the physical presence Snyman provides.

They felt Snyman, about 20kg heavier than Kayser, would be more suited to counter the powerful New Zealand backline, which includes Tana Umaga at centre.
