Reds lose Kefu
October 5, 2001

A thigh injury has forced Steve Kefu out of the Queensland Reds' line-up for tomorrow night's clash with New South Wales at Ballymore.
The Reds decided to err on the side of caution and replaced Kefu with Jason Ramsamy for the Centenary of Federation match.

Reds medical staff wanted to ensure that Kefu will be fit to make his first Wallaby tour to Europe later this month.

Versatile forward Mark Connors was forced to sit out training because of a virus but is expected to play.

The Reds completed their preparations with star recruit Wendell Sailor admitting he was facing a "sink or swim" situation.

Sailor will line up for his first game of union with the Reds after quitting his high-profile rugby league career with the Brisbane Broncos.

The former Kangaroo winger said he was concentrating on the basics after just one week of training with the Reds.

He was expected to play for about 20 minutes off the bench, but a crowd of 12,000 is tipped for his debut.
