Rogers dilemma for Dwyer
October 17, 2001

New South Wales Waratahs' coach Bob Dwyer has yet to decide where rugby league recruit Mat Rogers will be best suited in the 15-man code.

An upbeat Dwyer told the Sydney Daily Telegraph his plans for Rogers have almost no boundaries, suggesting the rugby league Test winger has the skills to play from five-eighth to fullback - and everywhere in between.

Rogers, on a three-year deal with the Waratahs, has signalled his intentions early.

"Ideally, I would love to play five-eighth," he said. "But with Manny Edmonds there, he's a great talent. We'll have to see but I can't wait to rip in. I feel like a schoolkid again."

The coach admits the options are varied. "Honestly, he could wear jumpers 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15," said Dwyer, who will begin looking for a position for Rogers on Monday when the Waratahs open their off-season training program.
