Gregan wary of French

New Walaby skipper George Gregan has expressed surprise at France fixturing its upcoming test against the world champions in Marseilles, rather than Paris.
Speaking at a Property Council of Australia luncheon in Sydney, Gregan says he thinks it is part of a French attempt to ambush the Wallabies, at the same venue that France shocked New Zealand 42-33 last year.

"They've shoved us out of Paris and sent us down to Marseilles, in all likelihood to set up an ambush," Gregan said.

Turning his attention to the English and Welsh, Gregan said the game against the England would be tough and expected a tough reception from the Wales crowd in Cardiff.

"I believe their (England's) team have been one of the world leaders over the last few seasons with their development and their level of play," Gregan said.

"It's a really, really noisy Stadium and another really good challenging experience for everyone in the team," Gregan said.

Gregan, who took over from John Eales at the helm of the Wallabies, says he will be trying to lead the team in much the same way as Eales did.

"I've taken over from the great John Eales and he's a wonderful player and wonderful to play with and work with," Gregan said. "A lot of those qualities which have been a fundamental part of the team will continue to be a fundamental part of the team."
