Kefu sizes up offer from Japan
November 28, 2001

Australia's Toutai Kefu, who partners brother Steve in the centres in tonight's clash with the Barbarians, has yet to decide whether to commit to the World Cup defence in 2003 or accept a lucrative offer to play in Japan.

"My contract with the ARU finishes next year so I'm weighing up options whether to stay on for the next World Cup or not," Kefu said. "The offers that I've been getting from Japan have been quite substantial.

"Obviously I'm not looking for the ARU to meet it, because they certainly can't, but it's something to look at. I'll decide a couple of weeks after I get back from the tour."

Kefu was named the player of the European Tour by his teammates, gathering 155 votes from the five games, a 30-vote lead over second-placed Phil Waugh (125) and 56 better than Nick Stiles (99).
