Clyde quits before he starts
December 12, 2001

Brad Clyde has quit his post as defensive coach of the ACT Brumbies before taking up the role, citing concerns over a conflict of interest with his other job in marketing with the Bulldogs in the NRL.

Clyde, a former Australian Test forward and player with the Canberra Raiders and more recently the Bulldogs, said it was Canberra who flagged the possibility of a conflict.

"I'm going to just work for the Bulldogs now," Clyde said. "It's been pretty well ever since the negative press that I received on Sunday, compliments of the Raiders, that I've had to decline the offer of the Brumbies."

"There's been a bit of pressure there and as far as my time goes working with the Bulldogs, that will be fulltime. It's a difficult situation that I'm in."
