Horan turns his back on unlucky 13
December 13, 2001

It just won't wear for Tim Horan. He is refusing point blank to pull on the Saracens number 13 jersey after picking up his fourth injury for the Zurich Premiership club.

"I will be wearing number 12 or number 26 when I get back from this injury but not the dreaded number 13 after the run of bad luck I have suffered," the Australian star told the Evening Standard.

Horan, whose latest setback came when he injured a knee against Sale last month, said he hoped to be back in action before the end of the year even though an X-ray revealed he had cracked the top of his knee cap.

He is not the first Aussie to be spooked by the 13 shirt. Graeme Bond refused to wear it on the Wallabies tour of Europe earlier this year for similar reasons.
