Wallaby 7s looks to atone
January 3, 2002

After being beaten in sudden-death extra time in the quarter finals at the last tournament in Durban, Australia will be keen to improve when round two of the IRB World Sevens series begins in Chile.

The Aussies went down 19-14 to Manu Samoa in South Africa in November, but with Waratah Peter Miller in charge, the team is looking to perform better in Santiago, having drawn a relatively easy pool against the US, Argentina and Brazil.

The All Blacks, who beat Australia's conqueror's Manu Samoa 19-17 in the final, are short-priced favourites to make it two from two, with pool matches against Wales, Canada and Paraguay.

Pool C is expected to be the most closely contested, with South Africa, England, France and Uruguay, but ticket sales in Chile have unfortunately been slow, with the host nation to face Samoa, Fiji, and the West Indies (made up of players from Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas and Bermuda).
