Freak accident rules out Rogers

Mat Rogers has been ruled out of the Waratahs' trial match against the Auckland Blues at Whangarei on Friday night after a freak accident at training.

Rogers was positioning himself on a massage table at the Waratahs' Narrabeen training base when it gave way and crushed the tip of the middle finger on his right hand.

An X-ray has cleared him of a break but the tissue at the end of his finger has been severely damaged.

The injury was a painful experience for Rogers, and it has certainly taken his attention away from the broken nose he suffered in the final of the Brisbane World Rugby Sevens on Sunday.

Milton Thaiday has replaced Rogers in the 23-man squad.
