ACT to ring changes
February 8, 2002

New ACT coach David Nucifora says he will use all 25 players in his squad during the unlimited interchange trial against Wellington B this weekend.

"I wouldn't be reading too much into the selection of the starting lineup for the match," Nucifora said. "We won't be making any final decision about the team to play Queensland until we're finished here in New Zealand."

One of the key inclusions for the defending Super 12 champions is Pat Howard, back after time with English club Leicester and slotted straight into the inside centre spot.

While Wallaby five-eighth Steve Larkham has admitted he may swap positions with Howard and 2001's regular inside centre James Holbeck, and Nucifora says every player in the squad will be given a chance.

"The players who are competing for spots will be given equal opportunity," Nucifora said. "Sunday is all about familiarising the team with our game under match conditions and producing a good first up performance."

The coach also expects a tough hit-out from Wellington B at Palmerston North.

"They are the younger guys who are on the fringe of Super 12 who will be looking to impress," he said. "There aren't many familiar names in their side but we expect, given the quality of depth in New Zealand rugby, they will field a number of capable players."
