Rauluni to start for Reds

Queensland Reds coach Mark McBain on Wednesday named a strong side to take on neighbours the ACT Brumbies in their Super 12 opener on Saturday.

Former Fijian international Jacob Rauluni (pictured) edged out Sam Cordingley for the halfback spot in the Reds line-up. He will go head to head with Wallaby captain George Gregan in the series opener.

"I'm feeling more pressure from Sam than George," said Rauluni, who played 44 Tests for Fiji. "But it's a great challenge."

Sean Hardman will start as hooker for the Reds following the retirement of Michael Foley, while Glenn Panoho is tighthead prop ahead of Fletcher Dyson.

Rugby League convert Wendell Sailor will start on the left wing for the Reds in his biggest test since he switched codes.

Queensland Reds: Nick Stiles, Sean Hardman, Glenn Panoho, Mark Connors, Nathan Sharpe, Matt Cockbain, David Croft, Toutai Kefu, Jacob Rauluni, Elton Flatley, Wendell Sailor, Steve Kefu, Daniel Herbert (capt), Ben Tune, Chris Latham. Substitutes: Tom Murphy, Fletcher Dyson, Mike Mitchell, John Rose, Junior Pelesasa, Andrew Scotney, Sam Cordingley.
