Kefu to equal record
March 1, 2002

Wallaby and Reds No.8 Toutai Kefu will equal the record for most Super 12 matches in Saturday's game against the Auckland Blues at Ballymore.

Kefu will play his 71st game to equal the record set by former Canterbury Crusaders captain Todd Blackadder. The hard-running Kefu is sure to set a new mark should he be fit the following week as Blackadder is now playing in Scotland.

In an amazing testament to Kefu's durability, the game will be his 70th consecutive Super 12 encounter after missing just one game following his debut in 1996 when he sustained concussion and was forced to sit out the following week.

The 27-year-old recently signed a new contract with the Australian Rugby Union that will see remain in Reds and Wallaby colours until the end of 2003. Kefu was the target of several lucrative offers to play club rugby in Japan.
