Brumbies pair to play
April 12, 2002

Peter Ryan and Owen Finegan are both expected to play for the ACT Brumbies in Sunday's clash with the Hurricanes at Canberra Stadium.

Both were in doubt with injuries, but Ryan has trained all week after a shoulder problem and Finegan is expected to declare himself a starter on Saturday after being passed fit by club doctors on Thursday following a knee ailment.

But Wallabies hooker Jeremy Paul has not recovered enough from an ankle injury and won't play, with his place to be taken by Australian Under-21 skipper Adam Freier.

And New South Wales fullback Mat Rogers rates himself a 70-30 chance of taking his place in the Waratahs line-up for the match against the Highlanders at Aussie Stadium on Saturday night.

Rogers sprained his ankle when he stepped in a pot-hole at training earlier in the week, and though he had a fitness test on Friday morning a final decision won't be made until the afternoon of the match.

The former rugby league star will wait and see how the joint responds overnight after the test, with any further inflammation set to rule him out. Manuel Edmonds is on standby to replace him.
