Herbert a doubt
April 16, 2002

Reds skipper Dan Herbert is in doubt for the clash with the Cats in Johannesburg on Saturday with a strained hamstring.

Herbert suffered the injury during Queensland's 48-12 thrashing of the Bulls at Ballymore last weekend, and his chance of retaining his place hasn't been helped by the trip to South Africa.

If Herbert is unable to line up against the Cats his place will be taken by Junior Pelesasa, while coach Mark McBain will only put his players through light sessions this week in order to keep them fresh for the Ellis Park game.

"I was very happy with our performance against the Bulls and we can afford to have a lighter week," McBain said.

Winger Wendell Sailor, who finally broke his try-scoring drought with a double against the Bulls, arrived without one of his bags containing his mouthguard, boots and shoes.

"The boots and mouthguard are replaceable, the important thing is I still have my collection of shirts and singlets," he said.

Already without props Willie Meyer and Heinrich Kok, the Cats have also lost halfback Grant Bartle for the next month with a broken toe, but captain Andre Vos will return after missing the loss to the Auckland Blues due to injury.
