Darwin to miss Maori clash
June 11, 2002

Waratahs prop Rod Moore has been added to the Wallabies team for the season-opener against the New Zealand Maori after Ben Darwin was ruled out with an ankle injury.

Darwin suffered the injury during training at the Wallabies base in Coffs Harbour on Monday.

Darwin's injury gives Moore a chance to impress selectors in the clash with the Maori in Perth on Saturday ahead of the Tests against France and the Tri-Nations series.

"I hurt my ankle during scrum training but there's no indication of just how long I'll be out for," said a disappointed Darwin.

"It's certainly frustrating to suffer an injury like this before we've played a match but
I'm determined to get back as soon as possible."

Moore was already with the extended Wallaby squad in Coffs Harbour but had been expecting to head to Adelaide to play for Australia A against France A on Tuesday.

His place in the Australia A squad has now gone to Queensland's Fletcher Dyson.
