Randle out for Maori
June 12, 2002

New Zealand Maori coach Matt Te Pou has made four changes to his side for Saturday's clash with Australia at Subiaco Oval in Perth.

Wing Roger Randle has failed a fitness test and has been omitted from the 22-man squad. Randle came off the bench and played 20 minutes against NSW at the weekend, but after not playing for a month through injury, he felt he wasn't running at 100 percent.

Bruce Reihana, who was to play at fullback had Randle been fit, will remain on the left wing with Otago's Willie Walker getting another chance to impress in the No.15 jersey.

Rico Gear shifts from centre to the right wing in place of Joe Maddock with Ryan Nicholas having recovered from an elbow injury, taking his place at centre alongside Mark Mayerhofler.

Rhys Duggan is over the neck injury that kept him out of the NSW game and returns to the No. 9 jersey in place of Brendon Haami.

Matua Parkinson replaces Blair Urlich on the openside flank after recovering from a groin strain.

New Zealand Maori have met Australia 10 times previously with the Maori victorious on three occasions, Australia winning five while two matches have been drawn.

Australia won the last match between the two sides at the Sydney Football Stadium last year 41-29 in a thrilling encounter that ended a 12 match unbeaten run for the New Zealand Maori stretching back to 1993.
