Record selection for Kefu
July 24, 2002

Toutai Kefu will become the Wallabies' most capped No.8 when he runs out against the Springboks in the Tri Nations clash in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Reds No.8 plays his 45th Test in the position, while five-eighth Steve Larkham and replacement forward Matt Cockbain will win their 50th caps.

Wallaby selectors have named the same side that lost the opening Tri Nations game 12-6 to the All Blacks. Ben Tune was named amid a drugs controversy after the Australian Rugby Union admitted on Tuesday covering up the winger's use of a banned drug last year.

Brumbies winger Stirling Mortlock has overcome a shoulder injury, while Reds flanker David Croft was added to an eight-man bench.

Wallaby coach Eddie Jones said he was satisfied with the performance of the team in the loss to the All Blacks.

"The conditions were difficult at Christchurch and we felt the team performed reasonably well under those conditions and certainly deserve another chance at the Gabba this week," Jones said.
