Harris switches to league
August 15, 2002

The Northern Eagles have got one back for the league fraternity by signing Waratahs centre Sam Harris on a two-year deal.

A former Manly junior, Harris played representative rugby for the Australian Schoolboys, and the Australian Under 19 and Under 21 sides, and played several Super 12 games for the Waratahs.

The signing reverses an annoying trend for rugby league fans, with rugby union enjoying a busy 12 months after enticing Australian league representatives Wendell Sailor, Mat Rogers and Lote Tuqiri to switch codes.

Harris was also been chased by the Wests Tigers and Sydney Roosters. He is expected to play in the backrow for the Eagles.
