Blacklock re-affirms his commitment

Big money Waratahs' recruit Nathan Blacklock has reaffirmed his commitment to the 15-man-code despite recent rumours he return to rugby league.

"I am happy with the decision I have made (signing with the NSW Rugby Union) and will stick to it," Blacklock told the Daily Telegraph in response to the rumours.

"I think there is a future for me here in rugby union. I'm really looking forward to next season, training well and getting to know the guys."

Blacklock rubbished reports that he had spoken to officials at the NRL's Rabbitohs club and the winger's manager Shaun Martyn echoed his thoughts and said he had no idea where the rumours were coming from.

But Blacklock did declare he went through a tough period with the recurrence of an injury to his posterior cruciate ligament after a handful of club games with Southern Districts.

"I got a bit down, I had just come over to rugby and hurt myself," he said. "I always think the worst of things when I hurt myself.

"I didn't realise how things worked here and wondered how I could get through this stage."

But following discussions with Waratahs' coach Bob Dwyer and fellow code-switcher Mat Rogers he was convinced he could overcome his problems.

"Now I have really picked up and am looking forward to training with the guys," he added.

"It is good the coach has faith in me, but I don't want to stick that in my head," Blacklock said.

"I still have to start from the bottom and work my way up."
