RWC'03 travel agents announcement delay
October 11, 2002

Anxious fans awaiting news of where they can buy packages for the game's showpiece event next year will have to wait just a little longer.

Fans from the UK hoping to venture Down Under to grab a slice of RWC'03 are going to have to rely heavily on official package deals incorporating travel as there are expected to be very few tickets available outside of such deals.

The Times reports that a decision on the official travel agents for the World Cup has been delayed because of contractual difficulties between Rugby World Cup Ltd and Rugby Logistics, the joint British Airways/Qantas consortium, which is charged with handling their appointment as well as worldwide ticket distribution.

It was expected yesterday but has been put back to October 21.

Operator sin the UK such as Gulliver's Sports Travel are expecting to send 3,000 supporters to Australia.
