Good news for Tune
November 7, 2002

Ben Tune is hopeful of taking the field in Queensland's first Super 12 clash next season after a favourable report on his damaged hamstring.

The hard-running winger had his Wallaby tour cut short after sustaining an injury during the 17-6 win against Argentina in Buenos Aires last Sunday and early fears were that he could be sidelined for six months.

But an MRI scan has revealed the damage was high in the muscle and the tendon is still attached to the bone. No operation is required, but Tune still faces four months of rehabilitation.

Queensland's first Super 12 game is against the Brumbies at Ballymore on February 22.

"The news is as good as I could have hoped for, and I'm confident I'll be right to go for the Super 12," Tune said.

"I'll be in the pool doing plenty of work in the next few weeks and slowly building it up from there, but I have enough time to make sure I get it right."
