Argentina are set to table a bid for either the 2023 or the 2027 Rugby World Cup, according to reports.

Former Pumas scrum-half Agustin Pichot, who is a director at the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR) and also the country's representative on the IRB, has told SportBusiness International that they are already starting to look into the bidding process for either of the sport's global gatherings.

Pichot has opened dialogue with the Argentinean government and has also revealed that the country will bid for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in a process he terms looking to "learn and grow" as a country.

With the IRB giving the 2015 World Cup to England and the 2019 showpiece to Japan, Argentina will hope that the IRB continues in a similar vein with handing one global gathering to a rugby stronghold and another to a developing nation in rugby terms.

Pichot also revealed to the website that he is keen on creating a Buenos Aires-based franchise to join Super Rugby.
