Baa Baas set Twickenham date
April 7, 2010

The Barbarians will return to Twickenham in December to take on South Africa.

The fixture has been confirmed by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) and will bring the curtain down on their Grand Slam tour attempt, where they will play England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The December 4 fixture will be the seventh meeting between the two sides dating back to 1952, with revenge on the menu for the Boks after their 22-5 defeat to the Baa Baas in 2007.

Twickenham also hosted the 'final challenge' game in 2009, when a strong Barbarians side defeated New Zealand thanks to a hat-trick of tries from Springbok Bryan Habana.

"The Barbarians fixture has become the grand finale of the European autumn series and we're delighted to be taking part once again," SARU manager of national teams, Andy Marinos, said. "The fixture has a character all of its own and is an opportunity for the players to demonstrate their skills against the very best international players but with different pressures to that of the Test arena.

"The Barbarians routinely produce an outstanding combination as they showed when a team featuring several Springboks beat the All Blacks last season. There'll also be plenty of incentive for our players following our last game against them in 2007."
