Mike Catt has demanded England become more ruthless after reflecting with frustration on the missed chances that could yet cost them the Six Nations title.

Scotland were dispatched 25-13 at Twickenham but a mass of try-scoring opportunities were butchered in the penultimate round of a championship that will almost certainly be decided by points difference.

Ireland and Wales are also in the hunt for the crown in Saturday's decisive final day and while England top the table by a points cushion of plus four, they know they can ill-afford to be similarly wasteful against France.

"Especially at international level, what the guys have to understand is that you only have two or three opportunities," attacking skills coach Catt said.

"For a ruthless side we need to make sure we convert those into points and we all understand that - the players are more frustrated than anybody.

"There were some glaring obvious opportunities out there that we didn't take and we have addressed those. It's all about us sticking to what we are doing, because it is working, and more about touching up on the finishing really.

"It's just making sure every player plays the play and not worrying about the next phase or the phase before. It's just making sure everyone is on song and everybody is playing in the moment.

"With that, errors are going to happen. They do in every international match. Every international team will look back on a tape and say 'we should have done this or we should have done that', but unfortunately it doesn't happen like that.

"There are so many different areas why it didn't happen - the support, individual errors - so it's fixable. It's not really broken, it's is just guys not implementing things."

England can take comfort from knowing they have scored 11 tries in this Six Nations, five more than the next highest team Italy.

They ran in three more against Scotland with Jonathan Joseph, George Ford and Jack Nowell crossing and Catt believes they should be pleased by much of Saturday's victory.

"People forget how tough Scotland are. Everybody expects for England to put 30 or 40 points on them but every team they have played over the last five or six times, it has been relatively close and possibly they should have won some of those games," Catt said.

"Ninety-nine percent of the things were very good and then obviously transferring the stuff we created into points was obviously something we were all very frustrated with. But saying that, you are playing against an international team that defends and scrambles."
