Valtteri Bottas believes Williams still has some pace in hand at the Belgian Grand Prix to try to get closer to Mercedes in qualifying and the race.

Williams appeared to be over a second off the pace of frontrunners Mercedes in Friday practice, but Bottas said there was more to come.

"Well we always knew that they still have more grip in the corners and every Friday they are quite far ahead but we know we still have some pace left for tomorrow and for Sunday so let's see how close we can get then but of course they are always going to have the upper hand."

After qualifying on the front two rows at four of the last five races, Bottas said his target was the top three at Spa-Francorchamps.

"The plan for tomorrow is like any weekend, from Friday to Saturday we need to work to make steps forward which we expect to make. Hopefully we will fight in qualifying in the top five and I think we should really aim to be in the top three maybe, so let's see."
