Try not to be too alarmed, but the goalposts at Murrayfield have a new home.

Fear not, this is not a reflection on the national side's failure to put them to good use simply part of a planned upgrade by the Scottish Rugby Union.

According to The Scotsman, the goalposts have borne witness to some of the greatest moments in Scottish rugby history over the last 30 years - including two Grand Slams in 1984 and 1990 and victories against the Springboks and Wallabies but they are now on the move to to a tiny club in the Highland town of Thurso - thanks to "a little ditty".

Following their removal two months ago, the SRU challenged clubs to tell them in fewer than 50 words why they should be given the famous set of posts and Caithness RFC came out on top thanks to the following penned by secretary secretary Shona Kirk:

"Fifty years have past; but at very long last; Caithness will have its first rugby pavilion. But raising that quarter of a million; has left us without a pound. So to get the posts from that hallowed ground; would make us the happiest club around!"
