Melrose's Sam Chalmers will appear before the International Rugby Board next week after testing positive for a banned substance, according to reports.

Chalmers, son of British & Irish Lions fly-half Craig, will face a disciplinary panel midweek and the case follows a sample taken following Scotland U20's match against Ireland on May 13. According to the BBC, neither the Scottish Rugby Union nor the IRB have commented on the details of the case.

A spokesman for Scottish Rugby told BBC Scotland: "Under IRB protocol, we can neither confirm nor deny any case until the disciplinary process has been completed. We take a very clear stance on anti-doping and adopt a zero-tolerance policy on doping offences in Scotland."
